The Barcelona Supercomputing Center – Centro Nacional de Supercomputación (BSC-CNS) is the national supercomputing center in Spain. BSC specializes in high-performance computing (HPC) and manages MareNostrum 5, one of the most advanced supercomputers in Europe.
The center conducts multidisciplinary research in computer science, life sciences, earth sciences, and computational engineering while supporting European scientific infrastructure and AI initiatives.

Bioinfo4Women (B4W) is an initiative of the Life Sciences Department at the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC) dedicated to promoting gender equality, inclusivity, and diversity in bioinformatics, computational biology, and AI for health.
Established in 2018, B4W supports women researchers through mentorship, networking, training, and career development opportunities, while also advancing research on sex and gender bias in biomedical data and artificial intelligence.
Through international collaborations, scientific events, and awareness activities, the initiative aims to foster a more equitable research ecosystem and to integrate sex and gender perspectives into life sciences and digital health research.
